My Ark, My Hell

I built an ark, but none did come

To seek shelter from the storm

The rains, they came and in their wake

I saw all those who did forsake

The kindness of a helping hand

Or the ear of one who understands

Their faces full of grief and fear

Seeing then, what they refused to hear

And as the floods did rise and stay

I watched them all with sad dismay

A panicked mass of human fray

Roiling in their own decay

Gasping, writhing, clutching, drowning

Their cries loud with pain and mourning

I gazed upon them as they sank

One tear was all that fell

Alone, I could not save the world

This ark is now my Hell
